Two Weeks Notice

LAST TWO WEEKS

Once you give notice, it’s tempting to coast. You’re mentally checked out, already picturing your next job.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲.

Your final two weeks shape your reputation far more than your first two months did.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴:

  • 𝘋𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨. Leave behind clean files, updated notes, and a clear handoff. It shows integrity and maturity.

  • 𝘉𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘱𝘺. Even if you’re thrilled to go, resist the urge to vent (or gloat!). You’re closing a chapter, not writing a tell-all.

  • 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥. Don’t be the person who mentally checks out. The way you wrap things up tells everyone who you really are.

  • 𝘚𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶. A few thoughtful words to your team or boss can leave a lasting impression and keep doors open down the road.

  • 𝘌𝘹𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴. Your professionalism now can pay dividends later in references, networking, or even boomerang opportunities.

Leaving on a high note isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being remembered for the right reasons.
